The Rijksmuseum is the biggest art museum in the Netherlands and is famous for its collection of paintings by Rembrant, Vermeer, and other well-known Dutch painters. It actually has four of the 36 Vermeer paintings in the world. Right now it has a special exhibit on the Golden Age. The Golden Age is the time in Holland (mid 1600s-early 1700s) when the Netherlands was one of the most powerful countries in the world. The Rijksmuseum also has lots of other kinds of art if you are interested.
